Electrical Training
Faultfinding Module No.SP3
This is the third module in the in the "Skills Plus" series. This module imparts faultfinding skills to those with a good understanding of electrical control circuits.
This module is targeted at technicians and new engineers working in the manufacturing industry who wish to apply their knowledge of electricity to the maintenance and repair of equipment.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On completion the student will:
- Be able to apply a logical approach to finding a fault in an electrical control circuit.
- Appreciate the importance of documenting the maintenance history of a machine.
- Apply faultfinding aids such as flow charts, system diagrams and circuit diagrams.
Course Content
THEORY
- Understand the psychological barriers to problem solving.
- Systematic faultfinding.
- The six step procedure.
- Half split method.
- Using documentation as an aid to faultfinding.
PRACTICAL
- Applying the theory to locating faults on a series of specially modified panel wired circuits.
- Fault finding on a simulated industrial electrical system which contains a range of 32 possible faults.
